Ozeri Green Pan Nonstick Skillet Review

Thanks to my ongoing relationship with Ozeri, I was sent another great product to review.  Although the Ozeri Green Pan was provided to me at no charge, all opinions are true and my own.

Ozeri Green Pan

As you may have discovered, when it comes to food safety, prep, and health I put a little time into things and have done some research.  One of the things I’ve discovered is the correlation between aluminum cookware and the increase.  One theory suggests that ingesting tiny particles of aluminum — from cookware, for example — may lead to Alzheimer’s.  I already have Multiple Sclerosis, which can wreak havoc on my brain.  I don’t want to chance any extra and unnecessary risks that I can avoid.

When I was offered the Ozeri Green Pan, I questioned the aluminum content and whether or not it would be in direct contact with my food.  This is the EXACT answer provided to me by my Ozeri representative, “They in fact are made of cast aluminum, which is a more solid, thicker gauge for better heat distribution with added steel. The coating is what is made of ceramic. However the aluminum in this case is not a concern, since it will never touch your food.”

CK2 Greblon CoatingOf course, I investigated the Greblon ceramic coating since I had no previous history with a ceramic coating and wanted to get some facts before signing up for it.  It took a bit of digging and thinking to figure out what this Greblon Ceram coating was all about.  It seems that Greblon has simplified their naming of their coatings and it is now referred to as Greblon CK2.  Simply put, it has two layers of the ceramic cookware coating.  This was reflected on the label attached to my Ozeri Green Earth Pan.

I had to check into the “PTFE and PFOA free” lingo as well.  This refers to the coatings that are believed to release toxic fumes as they are heated.  PFOA has been proven to cause cancer!  Addicted to our nonstick cookware, silicone and ceramic cookware arrived on the scene.  I’m not a fan of silicone bakeware, so I am glad that I have discovered the ceramic coating.

Some of the features listed by Ozeri regarding their Ozeri Green Earth Pan are as follows.  I can attest to each of these claims (minus the scientific stuff).

  • Extreme hardness
  • High level of scratch and abrasion resistance
  • Shining and brilliant surfaces
  • Easy to clean
  • Fast heating-up
  • GREBLON ultra-safe ceramic coating is 100% PTFE and PFOA free.
  • Textured pan surface delivers enhanced heat distribution and superior non-stick performance
  • Comfortable heat resistant silicon coated handle

Ozeri Green Pan Features

I immediately liked the shape of the handle on the Ozeri Green Pan upon removing it from the package.  The green exterior color REALLY POPS and will immediately update your kitchen with this fresh color.  The nonstick interior of the skillet is lined with a honeycomb style interior.  This design helps raise your food up slightly from the bottom of the skillet to allow better heat distribution throughout the skillet.  In turn, this leads to more even temperatures and cooking.  The base of the pan is also designed for better heat distribution and use on induction cooktops.

The first time I tried out the Ozeri Green Pan, I was a bit reluctant about the nonstick surface with that honeycomb design.  I had a thorough plan in mind for testing it out though.  I added two packages of frozen chuck directly to the skillet without any attempt at thawing it.  The paper was still stuck to the meat.  After less than a minute on medium heat, the paper completely released from the meat.

Altogether, it only took about 20 minutes to cook the two pounds of beef.  I flipped and broke it apart often, but never had to fight to release it from the skillet.  I never changed the temperature of the burner.  The meat steadily cooked and never fried like often happens.

When the beef was finished, I drained it in a collander.  The skillet was left remarkably clean.  I only used a single paper towel to wipe out the residual grease before using the unwashed skillet to heat tortillas for my Taco Bell Double Stuffed Tacos copycat recipe (recipe will be posted soon).

I’ve used my Ozeri Green Pan for about a month and half now.  It is absolutely my daughter’s favorite Ozeri piece of cookware, it’s rarely been put away during all of this time.  We’ve used it for lots of other recipes without anything burning and easy clean up no matter what we’ve cooked in it.

If you’re still using your Teflon coated or aluminum cookware, it is time for an upgrade to an Ozeri Green Pan.  Your health may just thank you for it!

  3. Wow! That sounds like a great pan! At first I thought it was going to be a traditional non-stick pan, and I won’t buy those anymore either. BUT this sounds like the next pan I should buy!
