I’ve never been wild about using a tablet for the sake of technology.  I have nothing against an iPad, Nook, or any other tablet.  I just don’t like holding them, it’s awkward to me.   My normal set up is my laptop on the cart in front of me and my wireless keyboard in my lap.  So, to have to sit and hold a device, while figuring out the angle for my neck, and to push and poke on it just isn’t my thing.

I’m sure the majority of these issues relate to me having MS.  It physically exhausts me to hold even a lightweight magazine, so I rest them on a pillow, table, cart, etc. to read.  Lying in bed to do this is NOT fun either.  There is no laying in bed to watch movies or tv shows on the devices in my household.  It’s not physically comfortable.

Needless to say, I haven’t spent a fortune on a tablet for my household.  I do have a Nook Color that I use occasionally.  I’m not an avid reader anymore and it just didn’t work out for a bedside tablet like I had hoped for it to.  I thought about selling it, but found a great use for it instead.  I use it in my kitchen for a digital and online cookbook.  I do the same with my smartphone, except I take pictures of recipes, ingredient lists, etc. and then pull it up in the kitchen.  This is easier for me than keeping up with a paper that I’ve scratched recipe ideas on or a paper I printed out.

However, there are a couple of problems when I use tablet or my smartphone in the kitchen.  The first issue is the gross factory.  My hands tend to get gross, slimy, and smelly when I’m working in the kitchen.  When I’m using my phone or tablet in the middle of all of it, guess what else gets gross, slimy, and smelly?  This leads to the second problem, where to place these devices while I’m cooking?  I want to keep them handy and  in the middle of everything, not out of reach.  The last major concern is what happens if I spill something on these devices?  That’s a whole new nightmare in itself!

Surmount Tablet Clamping Mount has come to my rescue.  It’s my new third arm in the kitchen, almost literally!  No longer do I have to worry about getting my devices all icky and sticky in the kitchen.  I don’t have to worry about where to lay them down.  Why?  Because the Surmount Tablet Clamping Mount allows me to mount my devices when and where I need them.  I have been opening my Lazy Susan cabinet door and clamping it to my countertop by swinging open my Lazy Susan door.

The mounting clamp has a wide opening that easily adjusts up to 4 inches.  This gives you a LOT of flexibility with when and where you can attach the Surmount Tablet Clamping Mount.  The arm easily adjusts in almost every way and direction you may want to move it.  A built-in pad is attached to the bottom of the clamp to protect furniture from clamp marks.  I do need to hot blue my pad back on because I was a little too aggressive with tightening and my pad worked loose.

There are a million other ways I can think of to use the Surmount Tablet Clamping Mount with my tablet or smartphone.  With the detachable adapter, even my smartphone rests securely above the latest recipe being made.  I can even attach my tablet so that I have a landscape or portrait view.
