Everything’s better with bacon!  At least that’s how we think in this household.  If you’re a bacon lover, make sure you check out all of the bacon recipes that I’ve previously posted to quench your greatest bacon cravings.  As a Good Cook Kitchen Expert, I was asked to create a new bacon recipe this week that would incorporate the use of the Bacon Press.  Of course, the first thought that came to mind was to simply cook bacon.  Simple enough, right?

Bacon Press

I threw my bacon into my preheated Cast Iron Grill, placed the bacon press on top and my bacon started cooking really quickly.  The Bacon Press comes seasoned, but does give recommendation for additional seasoning if you wish.   I did season the skillet when I got it, but decided that it would season itself as I cooked the bacon.  The press helped the bacon cook much faster than normal.   The picture below shows how the area under the press cooks first.  As a matter of fact, if you’re not very careful your bacon might just burn in the middle while the exposed ends look like they’re perfectly cooked!

I was inspired to actually get creative with my bacon and press while the bacon cooked.  I grabbed some chicken, quickly defrosted it, and cut it into chicken tenders.  I wasn’t thrilled with the prospect of cooking a chicken dish using Maple flavored Bacon, but much to my surprise the Chicken Wrapped with Bacon had no maple flavor once it cooked together.  By using the press on top of the chicken wrapped with the bacon, I avoided having to use any toothpicks, skewers, or anything else to secure the bacon to the chicken.  It also allowed the bacon to become one with the chicken so that every moist, tender bite also included a bite of that bacon with just a subtle hint of sweet.

The skillet and bacon press have been well seasoned with little use.  No chicken or bacon stuck to the skillet or press while cooking.  I even added optional toppings to some of the chicken, including cheese, and nothing stuck to the grill, including the cheese that dripped!

  4. Place bacon wrapped chicken in preheated skillet,
  5. Carefully flip as needed to allow even cooking throughout bacon and chicken.
  6. The press will keep bacon in place and speed cooking.

  1. This sounds good and I like the way the bacon is crispy! Often bacon in such recipes is limp, which turns me off. I like that the bacon sticks without the need for toothpicks, etc. Great idea for a different way to make chicken.

Getting chicken out of the freezer to make this for dinner tomorrow. Thanks for the great recipe! Chicken starts to get a little boring and this is a great way to jazz it up.

  3. This looks delicious! I can’t wait to try it out.

  4. Yummy! I am going to make this for sure!
