Many years ago I learned that it is much cheaper to cook at home than to eat out at a restaurant.  Learning to find and/or create recipes that took the place of those restaurant dinners has been the challenge.  Altering many of them to become gluten free recipes isn’t always successful, but my Beef Stir Fry Noodles has been a hit!

Growing up, my family never ate Chinese food.  So, it’s not something I learned to cook when I was living at home.  Years ago, I made friends with a family who ran an Oriental restaurant here in town.  I would often help out if they were short-handed and learned quite a few tips and tricks that I was able to use in my own kitchen here at home.

My daughter eats regular noodles and I eat gluten free noodles, but we can still minimize dish washing.  Make sure to cook the gluten free noodles first and then reuse the pot to cook the regular noodles.  If  we’re making this dish, we use the skillet to brown the noodles for one of us and the pot for the other one.  No extra dishes and the same meal is served to both of us, no muss, no fuss!

My recipe for Beef Stir Fry Noodles is one of the simplest and fastest to cook recipes I’ve ever created.  Unlike many other recipes for Chinese dishes, there aren’t any usual ingredients that you’ll need to buy.  Soy Sauce is the wildest thing needed to make a tasty and filling meal that will leave you wanting more.  Of course, the meat could be changed to chicken, shrimp, or pork and the vegetables could be changed to whatever vegetables your family likes best.

Beef Stir Fry Noodles
Ingredients
  • Noodles (Regular or Gluten Free, any size or style)
  • Beef Steak, cut into bite size pieces
  • Onion, chopped or thinly sliced
  • Vegetables, fresh or frozen (I used peas & carrots)
  • Garlic Salt
  • Seasoned Salt
  • Mrs. Dash
  • Soy Sauce (optional)
  • Olive Oil (optional)
Instructions
  1. Cook noodles according to package directions.
  2. Drain noodles and set aside when cooked.
  3. While noodles are cooking, cook steak in large skillet over medium heat. Season to taste.
  4. Add olive oil to skillet if needed to help brown the meat.
  5. When meat is nearly to the desired level of "doneness" add onion to the same skillet.
  6. Once onions are cooked, add the vegetables. Fresh vegetables may require longer cooking and may need to be added sooner than frozen.
  7. Add noodles to skillet and brown everything to the desired level of brown.
  8. Add soy sauce if desired while browning the noodle combination.
  9. Additional olive oil may be used if the noodles begin sticking to the skillet.
