LuLu and her Chase & Play Ball from The Happy’s & ZhuZhu Pets

As moms today, we all love seeing our children use their imagination, playing, and having fun! We’re always on the look out  for engaging toys that are not only entertaining but are interactive. So many of our are constantly begging for a pet, and often being told they can’t have one for whatever reason.

Introducing The Happy’s, the newest sensation from Cepia, the makers of ZhuZhu Pets.  The Happy’s are an amazingly adorable and remarkably real line of interactive motorized plush pets!  They’ll have your kid up and moving in no time.

From doing tricks for Happy Treats to racing after their Chase & Play ball, The Happy’s really play with you!  Just like real puppies and kittens, they love to spin, sit, pounce and play.  Appealing to boys and girls, kids can even train The Happy’s to do more tricks with the interactive Happy Treats.

Ms Do’s Opinions From the Child’s Perspective:

I think the kids will absolutely FLIP for these toys.  They’ll love clicking the Happy Treats to figure out what their own pet will do.  What little girl won’t like a cuddly, cute, little pink poodle like our Lulu?

Ms Do’s Opinions From the Parent’s Perspective:

The Happy’s won’t be a toy that we’ll purchase for children in our household.  There was a huge learning curve for this toy.  All we could really figure out how to do was to push the button the the Happy Treats bone and get the dog to move around, sit up, etc.  The Chase & Play Ball was almost like a magnet to LuLu.  I didn’t really see it as chasing and playing.

The battery compartment on LuLu needs to be labeled bigger and better.  The imprint for the battery “directions” were so small and slight that I didn’t even realize they existed at first.  Once I found them, I inserted the batteries, but swore I had a defective item for nearly a whole day.  I finally took a wild stab at it and swapped the batteries around the second day, even though I thought they were inserted correctly.  Once I flip flopped the batteries, LuLu instantly connected with the ball and started working.

Lulu has a built-in switch on top of her backside.  Clicking the switch makes Lulu’s functions change.  Using the Happy Treats also changes LuLu’s functions.  I think this was a poor design.  Why weren’t all of these functions built into the Happy Treats remote?

There is a warning sticker on top of Lulu saying to avoid hair.  We SHED hair like crazy around this house.  Poor LuLu would be dark brown in a matter of days because she’d be tangled up in our hair.  In less than five minutes, I was having to pull my hair off her and out of her wheels.

We have a small kitchen and dining room area with vinyl flooring.  The rest of the house is carpeted.  While trying to figure out how to use Lulu’s Happy Treats remote to play with her, she ran over onto the living room carpet but became stuck and couldn’t function any more.  When she ran into furniture or walls, she became stuck and also lost her ability to function.  So, unless you have large, tile, wood, vinyl, or other similar floors, with wide open spaces, unobstructed spaces, The Happy’s won’t function well and the children won’t be happy.  On the flip side, this does cause the kiddos to get up and more active.

Because I have a physical disability (Multiple Sclerosis) which causes me to have issues with vision and balance, I could see The Happy’s being a safety hazard for people like me.  With so many of today’s households also containing more than one generation, I could see this as an issue to the elderly as well.  Of course, this is a unique perspective I have.

Ms Do’s Overall Opinion:

Does it do what it claims to do?  Mostly.  I saw mine do most of the things described, but didn’t have the patience to “learn how to play” with a toy created for children 4+.  We’re also not animal people here, so that may be part of the issue, as well.  LuLu is probably perfect for some families, just not ours.

The Happy’s are available at many of your favorite stores as well as these great online retailers:
