Feed the Children Back to School Extravaganza
August 17th from 10am- 2pm
The Feed the Children Back to School Extravaganza will be held on Saturday, August 17th from 10am – 2pm at the Ark Community & Sports Center in West Waynesville. This is the 10th Annual event for our area and I can tell you from personal experience that is has gotten better every year! Every year that my daughter and I have gone has been bigger and better than the year before. It looks like this year will be a true blow out event, bigger than ever!
The ARK Community & Sports Center
25625 Highway 17, Waynesville, MO 65583
Don’t know where the Ark is at? Take I-44 west from the Ft. Wood, Waynesville, and St. Robert area to the Buckhorn exit. You’ll pass the Ark on your way. Not sure where Buckhorn is at? It’s one exit to the west of the Waynesville McDonald’s or the west gate of Fort Leonard Wood. You can also take the north outer road, driving past the theater, Good Samaritan, and T Highway until you reach the Ark.
The first 400 families in attendance will receive a box of basic food needs that is geared toward feeding for a week. All children who attend are eligible to receive a backpack and school supplies, while supplies last. This year’s Feed the Children Back to School Extravaganza seems to be set up with a carnival style theme. Everyone attending can enjoy:
- Hot Dogs
- Popcorn
- Snow Cones
- Games
- Bounce Houses
- Face Painting and
- More!
Of course, the event isn’t just for the kids. There will be lots of materials, programs, and other resources available to the parents and their families while they’re at the Extravaganza. Some of the programs available will be:
- Free Haircuts
- Dental & Hygiene Care
- Vision Screenings
- Parenting Help
- Counseling & Special Needs Resources
- Emotional & Spiritual Support
- Plus So Much More
The Feed the Children Back to School Extravaganza is sponsored by the Still Useable Ministries. Feed the Children is a wonderful organization. I learned about them when I was a teenager and felt the need to support them even then. Interested in a flyer with the information? Download the flyer now.
I love “missions” like this. Hopefully some struggling families will get things they need and everyone attending can have fun!
