We’re procrastinators around here. I work well under pressure. My daughter just procrastinates. She graduates in less than two weeks and never bothered to bring home any paperwork about graduation announcements. She just expected mom to magically take care of it.
Thankfully, an email showed up in my inbox a few days ago. Staples was about to save our bacon!

Graduation Announcements using Template and Pictures
There were TONS of different options for Graduation Invitations and Graduation Announcements. They can be made going up and down or side to side, folded or flat, and a variety of different sizes. The announcements above were premade templates on the Staples websites. I just uploaded my pictures and filled in my daughter’s personal information. Color schemes, fonts, and everything was predetermined with the template. You can make changes, but I figured it was preselected for a reason. 😉 It took less than five minutes to make each announcement above. In other words, they’re great for those who plan ahead or for procrastinators. LOL
My daughter wanted cute and trendy, but mom wanted a traditional announcement. We fought over the word commencement. Perhaps it’s a good thing she never brought home the school package!
Create Your Own Graduation Announcement
What we did agree on was a mix of something in between. We ended up creating our own announcement using Picmonkey. Then we simply used the “Create Your Own” option to upload the announcement we made.
Her best friend graduated last year and took this photo in her cap and gown early in the year. This was her favorite picture and she insisted on the picture being used on the announcement. I can’t complain. It’s really cute and fun looking. Don’t you agree?
Since we’re having a party the day after graduation, we also created a party invitation with Picmonkey. Using the “Create Your Own” option, we uploaded it as the back of the back of the Graduation Announcement.
Procrastinating worked out for us when it came to this picture. This was a picture her dad took of her when she was getting ready to leave for prom last weekend. It’s my favorite picture of her from all of her senior year. She looked absolutely beautiful and so very happy!
At 10:46pm last night, I received an email confirmation from the Staples Copy & Print Center for my order of 75 double sided 5″ x 7″ Graduation Announcement and Party Invitations. The email arrived less than a minute after placing the order. Of course, our local store was already closed and the message also told me that it may take up to 48 hours before my order was ready.
This email also served as a receipt for my order. Although I used the code INVITE50 and received the discount when I placed the order, the receipt I received showed the full price of the announcements. Don’t panic if yours does this, your card will only be charged for the 50% off price.
Imagine my surprise upon checking my email this afternoon and finding an email timed 10:43am this morning stating that my order had already been completed and was ready for pick up. We were beyond surprised that it was finished so quickly.
Of course, Staples has a guarantee of fast turn around on these orders. When checking out, we had the following message:
Orders placed by 2pm are guaranteed to be ready next business day, 30 minutes before store closing. Orders placed after 2pm will be ready in 48 hours. You will receive an email when your order is ready for pickup.
We chose the matte finish for our Graduation Announcements. There is no doubt they were professionally printed. My daughter was so excited when she opened the box and saw how pretty the announcements were.
We had been concerned about whether or not the Graduation Announcements would print out nicely because of the white writing on black background. Once we laid eyes on the announcements, all of our worries were laid to rest. They were even more beautiful in person than they were on screen! We had planned to the Graduation Announcements ourselves, but after seeing the quality and cost of these Graduation Announcements, there is no doubt that we made the right choice.
Staples was even able to save us a trip to the post office. We were able to buy a whole roll of stamps from there. I forgot to ask if they were going to address, stamp and mail these Graduation Announcements for us, too.
