I’m a homebody, a self-proclaimed hermit to be honest about things.  As a homebody, my phone is almost always charged.  I plug it in to the charger next to my bed at night before going  to sleep.  It stays near my wall charger or my computer most of the day.  If it needs to be charged, it’s no big deal.

A couple of weeks ago, I decided to meet my some friends for dinner, at the last minute.  Once I sat down in my car, I realized my car was down to about 23% battery life.  Knowing the group I was meeting for dinner, I knew that my phone would be dead long before the four of us quit talking.  I also knew that it would barely charge during the six mile trip from my house to the restaurant.

I ran (well, walked quickly) back into the house and grabbed the K2R-803 Cell Phone Portable Charger with Flashlight I had charged for review purposes, a few days before.  Since I normally keep a charger cable for my Samsung Note 3 in my purse, I had everything I needed to charge my phone on the go.  I plugged my phone into the K2R-803 Cell Phone Portable Charger with Flashlight, threw them both into my purse, and headed out to meet my friends.

As I had recently reviewed a similar cell phone charger, I was anxious to compare the performance of the two.  The K2R-803 Cell Phone Portable Charger with Flashlight was ready to use straight out of the box with a 50% charge.  I plugged the included micro USB cable into the unit and the USB end into my computer and allowed it to charge 100%.  It took several hours, but I didn’t really time it since computers vary with all kinds of variables.

Even though it’s not a big deal to charge your phone using the charger port in your car, it was nice just grabbing my purse once I arrived at the restaurant.  I can’t tell you how many times I’ve put my phone into purse while it’s charging, then yanked the cord when I went to get out of the car because of the tethered phone.  Of course, this wasn’t an issue when I used the K2R-803 Cell Phone Portable Charger with Flashlight because everything was neatly tucked into my purse.

The K2R-803 Cell Phone Portable Charger with Flashlight easily tucked into my purse because of its compact size.  Weight wise, it’s about the same weight as my Samsung Note 3.  The Note 3 is only slightly larger than the Samsung Galaxy 5 and 6.  Size wise, it sits on top of the Note 3 and is about 2/3 the length of it.  Think of a pack of playing cards and chop a little off the top.  That’s a fabulous comparison in size and weight, if you ask me.

While neatly tucked into my purse, the K2R-803 Cell Phone Portable Charger with Flashlight steadily charged my Samsung Note 3.  There was no problem using the phone while it was charging.  I sent a text, placed a call, and used a couple of different apps during the time.  I did keep it to a minimum as I was wanting to mostly test the charge time.  I was concerned whether or not my phone or the cell phone charger would overheat with them being closed up inside my faux leather purse.  Neither device nor my purse ever got even slightly warm to the touch, even after two and a half hours.

When I plugged my Samsung Note 3 into the K2R-803 Cell Phone Portable Charger with Flashlight to charge, it had about 23% of the battery left.  In a little under 3 hours, the battery was fully charged and used about 50% of the power stored in the K2R-803 Cell Phone Portable Charger with Flashlight.  The charge held just as well as a standard charge from a wall socket or computer charge normally did, too.

As mentioned in the name, the K2R-803 Cell Phone Portable Charger with Flashlight has a built-in flashlight.  It’s something I simply overlooked until I started writing this review.  The power button on the cell phone charger serves a double function.  Press it once and it shows the charge remaining.  Press it again and the raised light dots on the opposite side turn on and serve as a flashlight.  While it’s not a super bright flashlight, it’s reliable, and would allow for many, many hours of coverage.

With the K2R-803 Cell Phone Portable Charger with Flashlight, this hermit can go out to dinner or anywhere else and feel confident about having a cell phone with a charge.
