My friends over at Maple Leaf Mommy and Mom vs. the Boys have a new and fun meme that I’m taking part in.

The goal of ABC Friday is to photo share with a challenge!  Each week is a new letter theme, starting with A of course, we will work our way through the alphabet.  I’m coming on board with the letter H.  I may go back and add the other letters later on.

Just post a picture with the letter theme for that week…. A is for Auto, B is for Beach, C is for Cake….get the idea?
This is not Wordless Wednesday, feel free to share in words what the photo is all about! or not, it’s up to you!

If you want to take part in ABC Friday they ask you to link back to the host page in your post so that your readers can easily find them!   Make sure to link up your post, not your homepage!

If you leave a comment on my post, I’ll come and visit yours.  I would appreciate a direct link to your ABC Picture post with your comment.  Many thanks to those of you who already leave your link!

S is for….. Stained Glass

ABC Photo Share S is for Stained Glass

I’ve been planning to add a bathroom onto my house for a couple of years.  My current bathroom is just too small.  It’s only about 5′ x 8′ and I realized how much small it was when I was plagued with back to back to back Multiple Sclerosis attacks several years ago.  With a bathroom cabinet barely wider than the sink, a toilet beside it, and a full size bathtub occupying all but about ten square feet, there was barely room to walk in with my walker, turn it around, and either sit down on the toilet or the transfer bench for the shower.

I’m now in the active planning stage for this bathroom addition.  I know that I want a jetted tub with a built-in heater.  I want it to be on the exterior wall with something of a window.  I’ve been watching all those great DIY shows and had already thought I wanted a bay window or something similar over the bathtub.

I’ve been accumulating all kinds of things that I plan to redecorate my bedroom and decorate my bathroom with.  I had also priced having a small stained glass window made to install in my new bathroom.  It wasn’t cheap, but I REALLY wanted it!  Recently I saw this beautiful Clear Amia Studios Ripple Glass Wall Panel posted on a local site, similar to craigslist.  I didn’t jump on it though, because the price was much higher than what I ws going to be able to pay right away.

It was located in a nearby town, and a few days ago, I asked a friend of mine to go and take a look at this for me.  She called and told me to go and get it, that she looked at it and thought it was well worth the price I was asked to pay.  When I arrived, I looked it over, was thrilled with it, and proceeded to pay.  Much to my surprise, my friend had explained that I was a retired teacher.  She let the shop owner know that I was on a fixed income and asked her to make me a really good deal.  My price was about 60% less than the original asking price.  Yippee Skippee!

Now, more than ever, I want my bay window, with this beautiful piece of stained glass as the center focal feature.  I’m thinking about placing this opposite of my seated vanity area, which will have a mirrored wall.  My friend Serena, at The Bewildered Bug, thinks I need a chandelier in the middle to really set things off.

I can’t wait to see this bathroom come to life.  I think I will save the stained glass for the very last thing to put into place.  Once it is hung, I will stand and bask in the glory and beauty, before putting the blinds down and crawling into my new jetted tub!  😉

  1. stained glass is so pretty and yes, Serena is right, a simple but pretty chandelier would look amazing with it!

  2. That is such a gorgeous piece of glasswork! I’m excited about your bathroom reno, can’t wait to see photos of it all completed! (Oh, and I think I win for smallest bathroom ever. At my previous apartment the room was so tiny and tight that you couldn’t open the bathroom door unless the toilet seat was up. Just visualize THAT for a minute,)
