Seven Layer Dip with Chips

Seven Layer Dip

Seven Layer Dip

Looking for yummy treats to enjoy during the game?  I’m never interested in the game, whatever game it is, but I’m ALWAYS interested in the yummies!    Seven Layer Dip is a “signature” snackable of mine.  If there’s a get-together, this is usually what my friends ask me to bring.  While Seven Layer Dip is a great snack, it’s also protein rich, so it makes a great lunch as well.  I also have problems with my potassium and I’ve learned that pinto beans are also a great source of potassium.

Seven Layer Dip is a great snack, it’s protein rich and a good source of potassium.  Since it’s nutrient rich, it’s a great meal, not just a snack!

Serving Up Seven Layer Bean Dip Recipe During the Game
Ingredients
  • 32 oz refried beans (vegeterian style have less flavor to me) My Homemade Beans are Best!
  • 16 oz sour cream or PLAIN Greek Yogurt
  • 1 package taco seasoning
  • 2 cup guacamole
  • 2 cup cheese (finely shredded recommended)
  • 2 diced and drained tomatoes
  • 1 cup sliced or chopped black olives
  • ¼ cup thin sliced green onion or chiles
Instructions
  1. Thoroughly mix taco seasoning with sour cream. Allow mixture to sit as long as possible for thorough blending of flavors. The longer it sits, the better it is!
  2. Preparing in an air tight container will allow any leftovers to be easily stored. Transferring from one container to another is NOT recommended and should be avoided if at all possible.
  3. In a 13 x 9 casserole dish, or similarly sized party dish, evenly spread the following layers, taking care not to mix them.
  4. Refried beans (go in the bottom) You can make your own using my recipe that I previously posted. Make sure that your beans are well-drained, before mashing or blending. They can be "fried" down in a skillet if needed to dry them out.
  5. Guacamole.- I usually only put it on ½ of the dish since many people don't like guacamole.
  6. Sour cream mixture.
  7. Cheese
  8. Tomatoes
  9. Black olives
  10. Green onions.(top)
  11. Serve with tortilla chips. Plain (yellow) Doritos or Mission Strips are my favorites.
