Ingredients
  • Red Apples
  • Peanut Butter or Similar Colored Cake Frosting
  • Miniature Marshmallows
  • Candy Corn (optional)
  • White Chocolate Chip Morsels (optional)
Instructions
  1. Wash and dry the apples.
  2. Slice and core the apples. I suggest using an apple slicer/corer, like this Calphalon Easy Grip Apple Slicer. Place apples on a cutting board, center the apples to the corer, and press down firmly. It may be an innocent looking tool, but it is still sharp. I would know, I've cut my finger on my own before!
  3. To "stretch" the apples, use a knife to slice each apple wedge in half lengthwise, making each slice half as thick. I really recommend this if younger kids are going to try to bite through the entire mouth all at once.
  4. Use two slices of apple to create a complete monster mouth. Spread approximately one tablespoon of the peanut butter or frosting on one side of each apple slice.
  5. On one slice of the peanut butter coated apple, line up the miniature marshmallows across the rounded edge of the apple. Other variations of this snack use candy corn or white chocolate chips in place of the marshmallows. Line up these pieces with the flat edges against the apples where the pieces line up with one another in a zig zag fashion.
  6. Place the other slide of apple on top, with the peanut butter side down.
  7. Enjoy your new smile!
