Walmart Coupon Shopping and Price-Matching

How many of you go Walmart Coupon Shopping and also match prices to other local stores?  I live in a small town with very few shopping options, so coupon shopping and price matching isn’t a big deal to most people.  You either do it or you don’t.  I’m one of those people who happens to do Walmart coupon shopping and price-matching to pay for my groceries.

Walmart Shopping With Coupons

Walmart and all stores who accept manufacturer (MFG) coupons are paid to handle the coupons.  It’s in the fine print on the bottom.  Take the time to read it if you never have before.  Coupons even specify how much the stores receive for “handling” each coupon.

As far as price matching goes, that is a cost that is absorbed by Walmart.  Since I live in such a small town, I don’t bother too much with price-matching.  I typically just shop directly at the store running the sale price, especially since my local grocery store doubles coupons if the coupons are $0.50 or below.  Most of the rest of the time I shop at Dollar General when they’re doing $5 off $25 coupon days.

However, I did not feel well yesterday, so the FREE Pizza Hut Sliders were ideal for dinner.  Walmart was just a few doors down, so we stopped in there to price-match the merchandise that I knew was already running low at my Price Cutter.  I’m pretty sure that the party platters were on sale for the Super Bowl, at the $6.99 price , but with a $3 coupon, the $3.99 final price was irresistible and sure beat the $10.98 price that Walmart regularly sells them for.  Since I eat gluten-free, I won’t eat the crackers, but my daughter will.  We cook with pepperoni, and I’ll use the ham slices in my pinto beans.  The Kraft cheese was $2.58, price matched for $2.50 and the Sargento was $2.68 and I price-matched it for $2.50.

While I don’t have a printable coupon for the Coca-Cola, but I can share the MyCokeRewards program with you.  I earned free coupons using the program that allowed me to get both of these 12-packs for free.

  2. price matching is too much of a pain in the butt for me but I love to use coupons and match them with a great sale if possible.
