Thanksgiving Recipes

I didn’t realize that Thanksgiving was so early this year.  How did this happen?  Most years, it’s really not a big deal around our house because it’s just the two of us.  In years past, we cooked dinner for friends, but over the last few years would go to Branson and have Pizza for Thanksgiving.  Yes, I really said that I served pizza to my child for Thanksgiving!  We typically stayed with a friend of mine that is a vegetarian and my child has no appreciation for the traditional holiday recipes, so I gave in and quit preparing the big meals.  It was actually quite liberating!  Besides, people quit making fun of me for my Slow Cooker Turkey.  Yes, the recipe is linked below.  :)

But my dear daughter changed things up on me this year!  Her newest best friend has a dad in the Army.  He was recently deployed to Afghanistan and her mom decided we needed to be part of their family Thanksgiving.  WHAT?!?  No pizza for us this year?  lol  We were asked to bring pie.  PIE?  Really, do these people realize I’m NOT a pie baker?  Actually her parents are very sweet people and I’m looking very forward to spending Thanksgiving with this sweet family.  However, I won’t be bring pie, it’ll be my homemade cheesecake instead.

Since the Dishing It Up gang and I  realize that most of you are a bit more traditional than my daughter and I are when it comes to holiday cooking, we’re sharing some of our favorite recipes with you.  Just click the froggies to find your new favorites and let us know what you think about ours.
