TGIGF is Sorghum Based – NO RICE FLOUR!

I recently was given the opportunity to review the TGIGF Gluten Free Bread Mix. Although the TGIGF Gluten Free Bread Mix was provided to me at no charge, all opinions are true and my own.

To be honest, yeast has always intimidated me.  I think it’s because of the whole let it rise, knead it, and all of those things.  So, when I found the TGIGF Gluten Free Bread Mix I was relieved to find out that there weren’t ten thousand steps and hoops to jump through.  The directions on the package were very clear and simple to follow.

To simplify the directions, you just have to add a few ingredients to the mix.  Pour it into a greased loaf pan and allow to rise in a 200* oven.  Remove it from the oven, allow the oven temperature to reach 350*, and bake.  Yes, it really is THAT easy.  In less than two hours, I was able to eat fresh, hot, home baked, gluten-free bread!

As most gluten-free bread eaters know, it tends very heavy and dense.  So, I chose to make mini loaves with my mix.  I was very pleased with the outcome.  On the TGIGF site, they claim it makes the wonderful grilled cheese.  I took it as a personal challenge.  Without a doubt, the TGIGF bread does make excellent grilled cheese!  There is no doubt that it is better warm with butter or margarine.  One mini loaf went across the street to our neighbor who also has a gluten-free son.  She said he ate five slices after school for a snack.  She said that was certainly his seal of approval.

My daughter was fooled by this mix.  She said it looked just like regular wheat bread.  If you didn’t know any better, you would probably think so, too, wouldn’t you?  The TGIGF Gluten Free Bread Mix is very versatile.  Not only is it used for making bread, but also for waffles, quick breads, coffee cake, cookies, brownies, pizza crust, biscuits, pie crust &  much, much more.

Elizabeth, the creator of the TGIGF Gluten Free Bread Mix, has lots of great recipes on the TGIGF website.  She also has several videos available to show you how to make the bread, step by step.  I haven’t checked into those yet, but I plan to investigate more of them.  I’m too busy enjoying plain old,  homemade bread!  I do foresee some cheesy breadsticks in my immediate future, like this weekend.  😉  Then again, maybe one of the many pizzas may be on the menu instead.  Decisions, decisions…
