Talk Like a Pirate Day

I can’t wait for Talk Like a Pirate Day this year.  I’m working with kids in grades 1 – 5 in an after school program.  My co-workers and I are eagerly anticipating the fun we plan to have with the kids and the activities that Pirate Brands asked me to share with you.

Get Ready to Set Sail – Make Yarrr Own Origami Boat

The kiddos and going to love this one in my design class.  We have tons of origami paper, just begging to be put to good use.  Not only are they going to Talk Like a Pirate, but they can set sail like one too!

Aye, Aye, Captain – Make Your Own Eye Patch

Drop Anchor & Read – Pirate Bookmark Clip-Out

My little first grade munchkins are going to love trying to talk like pirates, while wearing their eye patches.   We’ll make things a little more challenging with their pirate eye patches when we give them the treasure hunt.  We’ve got to toughen them up to be pirates, right?
Since Talk Like a Pirate Day also falls on a reading practice day, we’ll work on a reading and writing lesson with the Drop Anchor & Read worksheet.  I can hear them roaring with laughter now!

Draw Like A Pirate –Learn to Draw Crunchy

Talk Like a Pirate – Vocabulary

I think this will be a GREAT art lesson for all our kids in grades K-5 during the last half hour before their parents are picked up.  The kids love to draw and when they are given step-by-step directions like these, it’s a win-win.  We’ll have to have some special speech lessons during our art lessons, too.

Talk Like a Pirate Day is going to be so much fun!

Enjoy some Pirate’s Booty on Talk Like a Pirate Day

If your pirates need a little encouragement to take part in Talk Like a Pirate Day, maybe a little snack of Pirate’s Booty will put a little sass into your lad or lass and turn them into an old Seadog in no time!
