Have you ever left laundry in the washer too long and it gets that funky, musty, mildewy smell?  If you rewash it quickly enough, you can often wash the smell away.  However, if you don’t get to it quickly enough, that mildew smell may be set in forever.  No matter what you wash them with, you can never get the smell out.

Luckily, Smelly Towel Cleaner is now available to save you lots of time, effort, and stress when it comes to this sort of problem.

While I didn’t have a batch of towels that had that stinky smell that lingered, I had a beautiful, king size comforter instead.  I love the Simply Shabby Chic brand from Target, but it’s out of my price range.  I often find pieces of it at my local Goodwill store.  A while back, I found a comforter that I couldn’t resist.  I paid somewhere between $5 and $10 for it.  I was so thrilled with my find because it still sells for around $80 used on Ebay.

Stinky Towel Cleaner rescued my Simply Shabby Chic comforter

It wasn’t until I brought my beautiful new find home that I realized it had that stale, musty smell.  It made my heart sad.  I was so disappointed that I just left it in the bag, in my garage for the past several months.

Fortunately, I discovered the Smelly Towel Cleaner and thought it might actually wash the stinky out of my beautiful new comforter.  After some discussion with the Smelly Towel Cleaner people, I was told that it worked best to add the Smelly Towel Cleaner to the washer before adding the laundry to the machine.

This method really isn’t possible since I have a front loader washing machine.  Instead, I put a cap full of the Smelly Towel Cleaner into the washer, started it on the hottest cycle, and let it fill slightly.  I added the comforter to the washing machine and another cap full to the detergent dispenser with a cap of detergent.  The directions only called for one cap of the Smelly Towel Cleaner, but I used a second cap since it was a King size comforter.  I also used softener in the automatic detergent dispenser.

I let the machine run through on it’s normal Bulky Cycle.  When it was finished, I dried the comforter for about 90 minutes.  Once it was removed from the dryer, I put it to the sniff test.  I could smell absolutely no stinky mildew odor.  It smelled great, just like the fabric softener.  If you’ve ever tried washing and drying clothing with a musty, mildew smell, you know that it only becomes worse with the drying.

Needless to say, I am absolutely thrilled with my Simply Shabby Chic comforter from Goodwill and I’m even more thrilled with Smelly Towel Cleaner for getting rid of the mildew smell.  Now I can have a minor room makeover for a very minimal price.
