Most shea butter brands have a whipped, ultra thick creamy type of a consistency.  The Skin Ritual Unrefined Organic Shea Butter is much, much thicker, but lacks the whipped, creamy feeling when it first comes out of the tub.  The first time I tried using it, I had to literally scrape and rub to get it out of the tub.  I then applied it to dry skin.  It felt kind of sticky at first, but smoothed into my skin nicely as it warmed to my skin.

I decided to try using the Skin Ritual Unrefined Organic Shea Butter on wet skin in the shower the next time I used it.  Voila!  I was able to scoop out as much or as little shea butter as I wanted with little effort.  It easily glides onto and melts into my warm skin.  This is how I use it every time now and my skin is wonderfully moisturized and happy for at least 24 hours.

The Skin Ritual Unrefined Organic Shea Butter is naturally unscented, but does have a slight scent.  It’s something between a woody and nutty smell.  It doesn’t last very long and is typically gone very quickly.
