Ozeri INSTAVAC Green Earth Food Storage Container Set Review

I was recently given the opportunity to review the Ozeri INSTAVAC Green Earth Food Storage Container Set Review.   Although the product was supplied to me at no charge, all opinions are my own.

After a long, out-of-town Christmas vacation, my fridge was bare bones empty.  We knew another Snowmagedon was coming, so we stocked up on everything we could be reaching home on the return trip.  Then the wait began.

We waited for the snow and ice to take over and it did.  So did our wait for the produce to ruin.  Of course, there have been several snow storms since this little story began, but my produce stayed fresh through them all!

Needless to say, my produce hasn’t been stored in the original containers I purchased it in.  I bought bagged lettuce, spinach, spring vegetable mix, and tomatoes.  A couple of days after purchasing, all produce was transferred to my new Ozeri INSTAVAC Green Earth Food Storage Container Set.

  • Instant vacuum freshness without pumps, motors or confusing parts. Simply press down on the center of the lid and air is forced out through the one-way valve. Requires minimal effort.
  • Patented valve easily removes excess air so growth of naturally occurring bacteria is greatly reduced, and food stays fresh longer. Also features a release valve that prevents spills, splatters, and bursting when used in microwaves.
  • Wave pattern on bottom of each container keeps cut fruit and vegetables elevated from water and juices.
  • Handy date dial allows you to record when food was first stored and monitor days kept in the refrigerator.
  • BPA-free, stain-resistant, shatter-proof, and as transparent as glass. Freezer, microwave and dishwasher safe. Satisfaction guaranteed.

It took me a little practice to get the hang of the vacuum seal.  Unlike other vacuum containers on the market, no special tools are needed.  Simply place your food in the container, lock the sides down, mash the air out, and flip the air-lock tab into place.  Eventually, I began using my elbow to expel the air from the containers and kept the lid pressed down while I flipped the air-lock tab into place.  Since the lids aren’t flexible, it seems to get more air out than pressing down on them with my hands.

I wasn’t quite convinced about the whole vacuum seal on the Ozeri INSTAVAC Green Earth Food Storage Container Set until the day I was unable to remove a lid from a container.  The sides were unlocked, but the lid would not release.  I couldn’t even pry the lid off the container!  I finally realized I hadn’t opened the air valve.  Once I opened the valve, the container opened without problem.

Salad from Ozeri Containers after 8 Days

A friend of mine stopped by for lunch one day.  I fixed these salads for our lunch, using the produce that was then 8 days old.  She was absolutely amazed at how well everything held up.  She even made the comment about how these containers were better than the plasticware sold through the home parties.  Why did she think it was better?  Ozeri INSTAVAC Green Earth Food Storage Container Set offers a true vacuum seal, unlike the other brand we were taught to burp for so many years.

If you have an upcoming gift giving occasion and kitchenware is appropriate, I would put an Ozeri INSTAVAC Green Earth Food Storage Container Set high of the list of gift choices.  My daughter even says they’re cool.  What a statement from a seventeen year-old, wanna be kitchen junkie like myself!

Ozeri Containers are Good, but after 36 days everything else was gone!

  1. Thanks for the review. Those look really cool and I like the feature of the date dial on top. I recently started using the green bags but haven’t used them long enough to know if I like them or not.

    • You’re welcome! These are really great!! I did have to look up the date dial, but with me using the containers for produce I wasn’t really concerned. My folks leave their produce in the green bags from the grocery store. I think it’s Brookshire’s that has them.

  2. WOW – I’m impressed! These are especially nice when the weather is bad, the store is far (like you!), or simply because you don’t have a large family to use the produce fast. Also would be nice when you simply “overmake” quantities like I do sometimes.

    • Yes, DD doesn’t like salad, but as you know I buy bulk much of the time. With these great containers, my produce didn’t turn to mush before it was all gone. It was really nice having the fresh produce on all of these frozen in days we had around here, too! I didn’t even realize these were good for overmaking stuff until I was writing everything up. I just got it into my head that they were good for produce. They’re even microwave safe!!!

  3. Thanks for sharing the info about these – I had not heard about them before and have been looking for something to store my produce and didn’t want to buy more Tupperware. I just ordered these from Amazon and can’t wait to try them out!

    • You’re very welcome. Ozeri makes some great products. I love my Tupperware, but these FAR EXCEED even my Tupperware produce keepers! You’ll have to let me know how much you like them.

  4. That is absolutely amazing! I so want one of these! What a great product for review.
