While most of us have grown up cooking with vanilla in our sweets, were you even aware of Vanilla Bean Powder? I’ve used powdered vanilla off and on for several years, but just experienced Organically Grown Vanilla Bean Powder for the first time.
Of course, everyone wants to eat and drink organically grown foods, when possible, so why not start with something as small as Vanilla Bean Powder? There are no chemical fertilizers used.
The beans are ground moments before packaging to seal the freshness inside. While trying out the Organically Grown Vanilla Bean Powder, I had two different friends over. Both of them were amazed at how wonderfully it smelled.
I used the Organically Grown Vanilla Bean Powder in two different recipes. The first recipe I used it in was my Cheesecake from the County Seat Restaurant. I had been craving Caramel Apples Cheesecake, so I also made some Cinnamon Caramel Apple Desert Topping to go on the cheesecake. Later on, I created a Vanilla Bean and Sea Salt Body Scrub based on a recipe I found on the Sunny Day Organics website.
The flavor Organically Grown Vanilla Bean Powder was just as fabulous as the smell. The only thing I was disappointed in was the dark color. This isn’t a problem for those recipes with a dark outcome, but I wouldn’t recommend it for a recipe you want to come out bright white like an Angel Food Cake.
The only other recommendation I have about the Organically Grown Vanilla Bean Powder is to use half as much as you would normally use vanilla extract. This wasn’t on the package, I had to research it on my own. So, your personal preference may vary.
