I’ve had a chronic yeast problem for years.  No, not the female kind of yeast.  The kind that babies have in their mouth.  Years ago, the cure for this was to paint their mouths purple with Gentian Violet.  Nystatin and Diflucan seems to be the more popular choice these days, both of which I have a long, long history of taking.  This history dates back to my childhood.  As an adult, my yeast history almost led to my diagnosis with Chronic Mucocutaneous Candidiasis, which means chronic thrush of wet body parts.

However, I had no history of fungal infections on my fingernails or toe nails.  I also had not been diagnosed with an autoimmune disease, therefore the doctors would not officially diagnose me with this Chronic Mucocutaneous Candidiasis.  I had to go through a great deal of testing.  I was even tested twice for HIV/AIDS and Diabetes.  Why?  Thrush commonly occurs in individuals with HIV/AIDS and Diabetes.  Within two years, I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis, an autoimmune disease.

In addition to Multiple Sclerosis (MS),  I also have Diabetes and Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS).  The Irritable Bowel Syndrome came well before any of the other issues.  The doctors couldn’t identify what caused my problems, but prescribed a variety of medications.  None of them ever helped my issues though.

Eventually, I ended up being tested for food allergies.  I was allergic to almost everything I was eating.  I was more allergic to some things than others.  After pages and pages of allergy test results, I only had eight foods with zero allergies.  Once I eliminated the foods I was most allergic to and limiting the other foods, I started to gain and maintain some control over the thrush and irritable bowel issues.

While dealing with the thrush issues, I tried the Gentian Violet, Nystatin, incredibly toxic amounts of Diflucan, vitamins, and supplements.  None of it worked.  Elimination and limitation was the only thing that worked.  My diet was incredibly bland and boring.  It was no fun going out to eat with me because I questioned the wait staff and cooks about everything I ordered.

This roller coaster of elimination and limitation has gone on for about ten years.  I’ve eliminated all gluten containing grains from my diet or I eat them very sparingly.  At one point during this ride, I knew what I had eaten by what part of my tongue had broken out with itchy, rough patches of yeast.  It took three days for wheat to become evident on the tip of my tongue.

Of course, this was only the visible evidence of what I had eaten.  The symptoms of the Irritable Bowel Syndrome were horribly painful.  I was often doubled over while on the toilet.  When the urge hit, the urge hit.  There was no time to wait.  It was as if someone had installed a water faucet and left it wide open for days at a time.  This in turn caused my entire mouth and throat to become thickly coated with white, gooey thrush.  My throat and mouth were left very sore and felt very dry.  No amount of water ever quenched the perceived thirst.

Eventually, I learned it was easier to completely avoid the tempting foods than risk the later ill-effects.  Over time, my Ear, Nose, and Throat doctor and I determined that I probably never had a true case of Irritable Bowel Syndrome.  Instead, we decided that I suffered from food allergies which manifested in symptoms similar to IBS.  It finally made sense, the problem was what went into my mouth, how my body processed it, and how it left my body.  It was literally ALL connected from top to bottom.

Over the last couple of years, I’ve done more research on how all of this connects together.  It’s not hard to connect the dots, you just have to take the time to do the research and analyze each tidbit of information.  From my own personal research, I have learned that the problem probably boils down to me not having the proper amounts of  the naturally occurring bacterias in my gut.  There is even a large body of research which suggests colicky babies lack sufficient levels of bacteria in their intestines.  This goes along with the statement that 80% of your immune system is in your gut!

So, what does research recommend to do about this lack of bacteria?   Restores beneficial bacteria with probiotics for optimal digestive and immune health.  This helps control yeast and candida overgrowth and promotes daily relief from allergies, gas, bloating and constipation.  Probiotics are even helping babies with colic.

From my research and personal trials, there seems to be a combination that my body needs and responds to the most.  Since Christmas of last year, I’ve looked and looked for a probiotic which contains: plantarum, rhamousus, reuteri, and infantis.  It’s nearly impossible to find a single probiotic that has all four of these strains.  The other probiotic strains included are just icing on the cake!

My search is FINALLY over!  I found Hyperbiotics PRO-15: The Perfect Probiotic and it does contain all of these key probiotic strains.  I’ve taken several different brands of Probiotics throughout 2014.  So far, I’ve been taking the Hyperbiotics PRO-15: The Perfect Probiotic for about a month.

To the best of my memory, this is the ONLY brand of probiotics which contains this particular blend of strains while it remains gluten free, lactose free, and vegetarian.  Most other brands use a talapia fish gel as the base for their pills.  YUCK!  I don’t eat fish, so why would I want to take a supplement that is fish based?  GROSS!

There are multiple reasons why I recommend the Hyperbiotics PRO-15: The Perfect Probiotic brand.  They’re the smallest capsule on the market.  They’re packed with only the good stuff, no fillers.  A long shelf-life is guaranteed without any required refrigeration.  The lid has a double seal, it seals at the pouring spout as well as the outer rim.  Hyperbiotics PRO-15: The Perfect Probiotic offer the most thorough directions, with a suggested time to take them, how many, and why.

My gut is happy with me.  I’ve eaten too much gluten laden food this week, but my gut has remained in check.  My mouth has become a little irritated, so I increased the number of Hyperbiotics PRO-15: The Perfect Probiotics that I’ve taken over the last couple of days and I can already tell a positive difference.  Hyperbiotics PRO-15: The Perfect Probiotic has really made that much of a positive change for me.
