THEME:
This week’s theme was Christmas Side Dishes. Most of the Dishing It Up crew decided that we served the same or similar foods for Christmas as we do Thanksgiving. Since I didn’t post this Homemade Cranberry Sauce recipe then, I’ll share it now.
It’s so simple to make, I wish more people would make it for themselves. Compare the ingredients from Walmart’s Great Value Cranberry Sauce and you’ll surely want to make your own homemade for the coming holiday!
- Cranberries
- High Fructose Corn Syrup
- Water
- Corn Syrup
- Citric Acid
I think I’ll continue making and eating my Homemade Cranberry Sauce with no hint of corn syrup or high fructose corn syrup!
- 1 cup (200 g) sugar
- 1 cup (250 mL) water
- 4 cups (1 12-oz package) fresh cranberries
- Wash the cranberries. Discard any that are broken open, shriveled, or that otherwise don't "look right."
- In a saucepan bring to a boil water and sugar, stirring to dissolve sugar.
- Add cranberries, return to a boil.
- Reduce heat, simmer for 10 minutes or until cranberries burst.
- Once the cranberries cool, pour into serving dish.
- Refrigerate to gel. Cover with plastic wrap after completely cooled.
Remember, you just need to click the froggy to see the other dishes being preparde this week by the ‘Dising it Up” cooks
