Good Cook Sandwich Kit
Thanks to Good Cook, I received one of these Sandwich Kits this week. I had not previously tried the products, but really like them all. I used them for the first time while I was making my new New Orleans Style Muffaletta Sandwich (and it’s Gluten Free). They’re all fantastic products, but must say that I fell in love with the knife more than anything!
The Slice Precise was a nifty little tool that I wouldn’t ever thought about needing or wanting. However, I can tell how useful it is after just one use. It looks a lot like an old metal hair pick from the 70s, but I wouldn’t advise you to use it that way. There are sharp points at the end that help keep onions and tomatoes still and in place while you’re cutting to give you even, precise slices every time. Hand washing is recommended for the slice precise.
I had never used flexible cutting boards before. Sometimes I like using a different cutting board for each item I’m cutting. This was especially true for this recipe, because I was chopping olives first. I didn’t want to slice an onion on top of all of the oil that was left on the first board, so I just grabbed a second one and chopped away. They didn’t slip or slide at all, even when I used them on top of my glass stove top. I really like that they’re so lightweight and don’t take up lots of space. When I was finished, we put them in the dishwasher on the top rack beside the glasses to keep them from falling through.
Have you ever used a handheld cheese slicer? I have, but I don’t know if the one at the Sizzler’s salad bar really counts. 😉 It didn’t work nearly this well anyway! I typically buy grated cheese, but for this recipe, I wanted block mozzarella. If you’ve ever tried to slice mozzarella with a knife, you know that most of the time you end up with smushed mozzarella because it’s a soft cheese that doesn’t slice well. If you notice the picture at the top, there is a very neat, tidy line showing the side of the slice. Hand washing is recommended, but I did stick mine in the dishwasher. Sssshhh!
It’s hard to tell just how thick this sandwich is from this angle, but the knife was nearly at about a 45* angle and cut through it beautifully. I like my sandwiches cut into triangles, but typically cut them with a steak knife so that it doesn’t rip the bread up or mash it instead of cutting it. My daughter thought I had lost my mind when I kept raving about the knife! She’s 16, what does she know? Not much obviously. 😉 The Good Cook Knife Sandwich is made from high carbon steel to retain sharpness. It also has a soft grip, ergonomic handle and a safety sheath.
Now, for those of you who are on the go or work, you may just fall in love with the Deluxe Sandwich Keeper. Do you have to skimp on sandwich toppings because your sandwich keeper won’t hold a thick sandwich? That won’t be a problem with this keeper! The Tupperware box isn’t actually as tall as the good cook Deluxe Sandwich Keeper, just a slightly bad angle again. I wish I had taken the next picture compared to each of the different boxes, it would have really shown what can be held in this keeper!
My sandwich wouldn’t have come close to fitting into either of these other two boxes without being smushed to crumbs!

I am not really an olive fan, but I do like to try new things. I guess I would try a bite of your sandwich.
I usually gobble it down so quickly that you better get the first bite. 😉
